EMAYLA: 'Deepest Love' (Exclusive Interview)

EMAYLA: 'Deepest Love' (Exclusive Interview)

Where are you from?

I’m originally from Italy. I was born in San Remo, a city by the sea, in the north of Italy, right next to France.

How did you start your music career?

I started my music career in San Remo, Italy. There I started performing with a band and then I moved to Los Angeles in 2007. I graduated from Musicians Institute, where I currently teach and I’ve already recorded 4 albums. My music career started to bloom in Los Angeles, performing in different cities, being interviewed on TV stations and magazines and then performing with Juanes on MTV Unplugged. That album won a Latin Grammy. So that was definitely a big hit in my music career.

What's it like moving to and living in LA?

LA is definitely different than the cities in Italy, but it feels like home to me. This amazing city has always been giving me a sense of happiness and freedom, because it’s such a beautiful and sunny city, with positive and chill vibes. There are so many music opportunities here and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I definitely love LA.

Describe your creative process.

Usually, everything starts with either an idea based on just a melody or sometimes a melody together with a word or a sentence. Then I keep developing that idea by playing an instrument, either piano or guitar, to find the chords as a base of the song. From there I keep on building it and developing it by adding instruments and new sounds to it, with a program named “Logic”.

Why do you make music?

I make music because it feeds my soul and it’s one of my main forms of expression. Music also feels like therapy. I feel happy every time I make music, every time I sing or write a song or play an instrument. I could never live without it.

What's the biggest message you want to leave your fans with?

Be authentic, be you, always. Do what you do because you love it and put your passion in everything you do. Show the world love and your bright energy will reflect right back to you! Also, don’t be afraid to challenge yourself and live your life fully, because you never know what tomorrow brings. Life is now! Carpe diem!

What are your plans for 2023?

My plans for 2023 are: definitely starting to collaborate with more artists and producers, keep doing music, keep writing and keep spreading my music as wide as possible, to reach new audiences every day. My purpose in life is to spread my message to the world. 2023 is already amazing and I’m so excited to put more and more energy in my music and my goals this year. 2023 it’s going to be a blast! Stay tuned!
