same as me: "Sweet Dreams" Album Releases Today!
Today same as me released her new 12-track album, Sweet Dreams. After going through a series of adversity, same as me is finally able to laugh again. The album showcases how humans are emotionally multifaceted—comprising upbeat jocose singles with honest songs about loss. same as me is healing similar to everyone else and hopes this song will help people experiencing hardship escape their current situations. Dedicated to her late father, a Hip-Hop and R&B artist same as me releases Sweet Dreams music video. The comedic song shares fanciful dreams about her hanging out with celebrities. From sharing a jail cell with Rihanna to recording harmonies with Beyonce, the Edmonton-based artist takes a page from her father’s book to find the joy in life.
“I want people to feel entertained when they are listening to my single Sweet Dreams. It is meant to be funny, light and also give people a sense of play where you can use your imagination to dream up whatever you want,” says the songwriter, rapper and the self-proclaimed actress on God’s comedy show.
same as me may be a new name on the scene, but she has been working in the music industry for the last decade. Originally from Edmonton, Alberta she spent 6 years in Toronto really studying her craft. She started off as a singer/songwriter, then added rapper, producer and recording engineer to her now wide skillset. Less than 2% of producers are women of color, so same intends to change that with her debut album Sweet Dreams. Sweet Dreams was wrote, recorded and produced by same, with Executive Production by former A&R of Capitol Records and Grammy Nominee/Billboard #1 Hit Producer Roy Hamilton III. All these years of hard work are starting to pay off with a Reebok collaboration, having a beat on her album that was originally intended for Snoop Dogg and recently being featured on Billboard. same's album release party is in her home town of Edmonton, Alberta on February 15th.
