Ane.Fin: 'Call Me' (Feature/Interview)

What inspires your music?

Other people’s music and life in general! When I make music, I mostly just let the stories and emotions flow without thinking too much, so I am often not aware of where my inspiration comes from. Listening to the music after it reflects stuff and stories happening to me or people around me. I also do feel really inspired to make good music when I listen to good music, and I also get inspired by old movies and other types of art like paintings for example.

How did you start your professional recording career?

The hustle… I started making demos all by myself, sending it around to what felt like a million of producers without getting any response(except some rejections). I then got some help from a friend of mine who is also a great guitarist to make acoustic demos instead. After a lot work I finally got some sessions, and after a lot of bad ones I finally had one good song. I decided to release it and that led me to few more people to work with and also some live gigs. This has been my way of working ever since

How did you come up with your single and/or EP?

The single «Call Me» was written together with Jahn C. Gran and Sivert Sivertsen before finishing it with Carl-Viktor Guttormsen. The song is written from a really desperate place, where I’ve been several times. This is mostly triggered by someone being on and off, getting you “hooked” and losing your head without even noticing it. Sometimes it feels like love, but when you get further away from the situation you understand that this was just getting crazy over never knowing where you have that other person.

What is your genre of music?

Pop, indie-R&B

 Who are your influences?

NAO, Kehlani and 00s R&B/soul

 How do you define success?

That’s a great question!!! But sooo hard to answer… The easy answer is that success is when you reach a certain goal, no matter how you get there. For me, that is why I find it so important to set the right interim goals, so I feel successful more often than the opposite. I find it easier to succeed in a “successful” state of mind just cause I believe in the law of attraction so bad.

What can we expect from you in 2023 and beyond?

More music and concerts! I have so much stuff ready for you and I hope you’ll like it “Call Me” is just the first of 5 singles coming out within the next 12 months.
