Alfredo Paz: New (Songwriter/Producer) at The Singer's Company
What are your ethnic roots and where did you grow up?
I was born in Venezuela, a place that is itself very multicultural and diverse. I also come from a cross-cultural family, and over the years I’ve lived in different countries, so I grew up in a mix of cultures and ways of seeing the world. It showed me that borders do not really define us. Instead, culture, human relationships and shared experiences are what truly matter. For the past 26 years I have been based in London, a city whose own multicultural spirit keeps inspiring and shaping my work.
When did you start making music and when did you go pro?
I have always been attracted to music and to the way it can connect people and create emotions. I started writing songs and recording ideas as a teenager. Professionally, my path began with studies in both sound engineering and filmmaking. I hold two BA degrees and I have now been working as a sound engineer for more than 25 years. In that time, I have been fortunate to work with both world-renowned artists and companies, as well as many independent musicians whose projects I value just as highly. My work has included studio recording and mixing, film and TV sound, and live events. Songwriting and producing were passions I carried alongside, but I took a long break from writing, producing and releasing my own music. I never stopped working as a sound engineer, but returning in 2024 reignited something I had been missing, the joy of creating and sharing my own songs and stories directly with listeners.
How has your culture influenced your music and worldview?
I grew up in a very multicultural environment, listening to all kinds of music. That variety gave me an early sense that music is universal, yet deeply personal. Over the years I have also travelled to many countries, and those experiences have expanded my vision of the world and reinforced my belief that music and stories can connect people everywhere, beyond culture and belief.
Tell us about your company. How does it help musicians?
My production company is a space where I support artists in bringing their ideas to life. That means everything from good production planning and helping shape the creative vision, to drawing on a strong network of session players and collaborators, or something as simple as a good detailed mix. Anything related to recording and audio production is a joy to work with. I produce, record, mix and co-write, always with the goal of creating music that is outstanding on a technical level but also emotionally charged. My passion is helping artists tell their stories in the most authentic and powerful way possible.
What’s the most important thing you want people to know about you?
Every project I work on matters to me, and I want it to feel real and connect with listeners. I bring both my experience and my passion, always going above and beyond. I pay close attention to detail, from the way a session is organised to how a final mix is delivered, because those small things make a big difference. With my background in sound design, I also see sound itself as a storyteller, carefully choosing and placing elements to support the song and bring out its meaning. At the heart of it all, music is made to connect, and I use everything I know to help those stories be told.
How are you managing this content-driven music business we are living through?
It is a very different landscape compared to when I first started, but at its core it is still about songs and stories. I approach content as a way to share those stories more widely, without losing sight of the music itself. It can be very time consuming, especially without a team, so I focus on quality rather than quantity. While much of the industry is driven by views, popularity and algorithms, I believe the real value lies in the emotional connection. For me, finding that balance is what matters most.
What can we expect from you next?
I will keep producing, mixing and co-writing, both for my own releases and for artists I collaborate with, while also continuing to grow my production company and support the clients I work with. My focus is on genuine songwriting, storytelling and creating meaningful music that can hopefully touch people’s lives. Drawing on my background in sound and film, I aim to bring honesty and depth to every project. Above all, I want to continue building real connections through music, because that is where its true power lies.
